Perfect paintings start with great photos! Sometimes pets are shy, scared, speedy, or spazy, and this makes it extremely difficult to snap the perfect photo. Here is a list of some of my favorite helpful pet photography tips:
Pets are curious creatures, so let them sniff and inspect your camera.
Use natural light outside during the golden hours (after sunrise & before sunset), but avoid the harsh light of midday. If you can’t take them outside, then open up the curtains and blinds!
Get down on their eye-level.
Showoff their personality by capturing them doing their best trick, with their favorite toy, a silly expression, etc.
Use a cheerful, calm voice, say their name, and tell them great job!
Bribe them with treats (hold it next to the camera) OR say their favorite word (W.A.L.K.?) to get their attention.
